Yr 1 - Oak
In Oak class we have been working on the story of the Three Little Pigs. We listened to the story, re-told it with puppets, and designed and built our own houses.
The class were set a challenge to design and build a house for the Three Little Pigs from a choice of materials:
Either spaghetti, lolly sticks, pipe cleaners, straws, cotton buds or cocktail sticks.
And masking tape, jelly sweets, marshmallows or liquorice allsorts.
Once they had designed their building, they had to make them (sticking to their design as closely as possible).
They were then tested to see how strong they were when the Big Bad Hairdryer came along!
Once they had been tested, the children were asked to evaluate their models & say what they would change if they were to do it again.
Lots of fun was had by all, and we even go to taste-test some of the left-over building materials!
