Forest Schools

Forest Schools

The philosophy of Forest Schools is to encourage and inspire children through positive outdoor experiences.  By taking part in a range of tasks children have opportunities to develop skills such as self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, good communication skills, independence, positive mental attitudes, self-esteem, confidence and teamwork.  In addition they will learn some outdoor skills, and the activities will contribute towards the school curriculum.

We are currently working with a Forest School Leader (who is fully qualified) to lead activities including fire making, tree climbing (to a safe height) and whittling using ‘sharp’ equipment.  All the activities have been fully risk assessed and are closely monitored.
